Photovoltaic Network Integration - the value of PV KWh

Friday, 13th February 2009
Charlemagne building, Brussels, Belgium

Event organized in the framework of the Sustainable Energy Week ?09

The overall aim of the workshops was to provide a forum for a constructive dialogue between the PV industry and the utilities on how the integration of solar photovoltaic systems into the European Electricity supply can be managed in a win-win situation for all parties.

Objectives:

  • To foster the cooperation between the PV sector and the utilities in order to facilitate the integration of decentralized PV systems in the electricity network
  • To analyze the contribution of solar electricity to the peak power supply
  • Identification of Challenges and Opportunities for the network operators due to the increased number of decentralized systems

Program description:

Different European Utilities and their associations like Euroelectric and UCTE presented the challenges and opportunities which they are currently facing in their respective countries with increasing numbers of PV distributed systems. The added value of Solar Photovoltaic electricity to the peak power supply was presented by the PV industry through European studies carried out by ISET and IEA PVPS and EU PV Projects such SUNRISE and PV UPSCALE.

Audience:

PV Industry, utilities, decision makers, electricity regulators and related stakeholders
